If we believe a lie we live by it giving it truth. If we live by it, it has the power of truth in our lives.
Sometimes we cling to the lie because it’s easier, more comfortable and more socially acceptable than the truth.
3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.2 Timothy 4:3
But we are at war
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.John 10:10
Satan is the Father of lies and uses them as weapons against us. John 8:44 creating strongholds in our lives.
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.2 Corinthians 10:3-5
To break them down we rely on divine power, taking captive every thought making it obedient to Christ. The Word of God is a sword that breaks barriers.
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.Romans 12:2
Two ways we can approach our goal of demolishing strongholds:
- think progress not perfection
- think God’s power, not my power.
